Inelco Hunter has introduced the Powertip range of OLED (Organic LED) graphic modules which uniquely combine brilliant, high-contrast colours with a very wide viewing angle and rapid response time, coupled with a very cost-effective price.
These new modules use new, active matrix technology. The response time is <20us, as opposed to ~25,000us for TFT LCDs, making them ideal for full-motion video. The viewing angle is a truly amazing 180 degrees, as opposed to 120 degrees at best with TFT LCDs.
The modules also feature a very high contrast ratio of 10,000:1, and because no backlight is needed, the power consumption is very low - typically 100-200 mA. Therefore the product is extremely suitable for battery/portable solutions.
The operating temperature is -40 to +85 degC, compared with -20 to 70 degC with TFT LCDs. The modules are also very slim, with a typical thickness of <1.6mm, compared with >2.4mm, all of this, coupled with high reliability and a cost-effective price.
